Medical acupuncture is a limited form of acupuncture practiced by various registered therapists, such as chiropractors, physiotherapists, and massage therapists who wish to add an abbreviated version of acupuncture and/or dry needling to their practice. 

Medical acupuncture can be used for relaxation, stress relief, and pain relief. The therapist will insert tiny, sterile acupuncture needles into areas indicated to relieve musculoskeletal pain, muscular trigger points, increase circulation, and improve healing and nerve function in affected areas.

However, therapists trained in medical acupuncture do not have full traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture training, and cannot diagnose and treat as a fully licensed TCM or acupuncturist. Referrals to fully trained acupuncturists for more complicated needs and cases can be made  


**Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine technique for balancing the flow of energy or life force, also referred to as “Chi”. This is practiced with the use of needles inserted through a person's skin at specific points of the body called acupuncture points. Various disorders can be treated with the use of acupuncture, and has been used effectively for thousands of years. It can  also be used for relieving stress, back and joint pains, headaches, and may improve your immune system. We would be happy to refer you to a fully trained TCM or acupuncturist to fit your needs!
